Easy Peasy Purple Smokies

hey guys!! i tried this look out last night, and while it looked great in the flesh, it was really hard to photograph, but i've tried my best. for that reason, i did the tutorial steps on my arm, just because it was so much easier to show the steps, i hope you dont mind!!

So here goes. gather your materials. you will need:
An eye Primer. I'm using Benefit's Lemon aid
A purple eyeliner pencil. i'm using Benefit's kohl pencil in Royale
A smudge brush if your eyeliner doesn't have one
A black mascara. I'm using Max Factor Masterpiece Mascara in black.
And a highlighter. I'm using Benefit Miss Popularity, but a cream highlight would also be fine

ok, so prime your whole eye area, and conceal any blueish bits or any dark circles.
Take your purple liner, and draw around both lash lines. Don't worry too much about being neat, and you need to get a fair amount of colour on and you're going to smudge it anyway.

take your smudger brush and blend this up towards the brow, and down slightly below the bottom lashes.

line your top and bottom lash lines again, and your waterline. you are trying to get intense colour at the bas of the lashes fading to paler purple.

add lashings of mascara and a highlight to your browbone.

as i said, its hard to photograph!! i'm sorry for the abysmal photo, but please just try it as this is a really simole but effective look.

Clinique Givaway Alert!

hey guys!

so today i was in sainsburys with my mum, (she hates shopping on her own!) and i spotted glamour magazine by the checkout. this is nothing special in itsself, but they were giving away clinique products! there are 10 different ones to choose from, including lipstick, gloss and mascara, as well as what looks like most of their skincare products!

the till i was at only had a facial cleanser or moisturiser, so i went for the moisturiser, though i plan to check out some other shops in search of the lipstick! the magazine is only £2, so its a big saving.

i am currently using Clean and Clear shine control moisturiser, but the clinique one is a travel size 30ml so i'll be keeping it in my handbag.

whats your fave clinique product?

Religion for Women Review

hey ladies!

today i have something super exciting to tell y'all about, and that is that i have added to my perfume collection  today, and my scent of choice was the relatively new Religion for women. it caught my eye a while ago on the offers shelf in boots, where they had loads of pefumes that were reduced. it has an eyecatching white angular bottle, and it smells divine, but more on that in a minute.

i got the 50ml EDT with 200ml of body lotion for just £20, which was a great saving, as when i checked on how much the perfume was on its own it was £30 for 50ml without any extras.

this is what the bottles look like in the box.

first thing up for review is the packaging. which i like. quite a lot. it reminds me of the sort of decoration that they have in all saints stores. the only problem with it is that the white coating on the bottle seems to be a bit delicate, like it would wear off if i were to chuck the bottle in my handbag. and because its white you can't tell when it's running out.

the scent itsself is really unusual, though because i'm not an expert nose, i'll just put in the fragrance notes for you!!

this is what the perfume shop website says about it:

British fashion label Religion, a brand that continues to push boundaries in pursuit of its dark individual style and worn by the likes of Kate Moss, Mischa Barton, Pixie Lott, Agyness Deyn and Irina Lazareanu amongst others, have just launched a new fragrance called Religion for women. A fiery, fizzy punch of a perfume - for a sensual female who know what she wants.

Heart notes
Turkish Rose, Jasmine, Black Pepper

  • Top notes
    Orange, Mandarin, Ambrette Seeds

  • Base notes
    Labdanum, Patchouli, Musk

  • Scent

  • Floral

i would reconmend it if you like floral scents and for summer and daytime... though i tend to hate 'evening' scents!

have you tried this perfume? what do you think of religion as a brand?

    New Nail Polish Crush!

i know i've been neglcting my blog recently, and for that i apologise, but i have been supremely busy, as exams are coming up and deadlines have been flying thick and fast.

anyway, i have a new resolve to post more often, and i have a wonderful new nail polish to tell you about!!

i am in LOVE with this polish. it is at the lower end of the price scale, at £2.99, so the quality isn't fantastic (it would chip without a decent topcoat) but its fine with a topcoat, which i use automatically anyway.
ok, so its from Barry M, which is availible in boots and superdrug in the UK, but it is availible online from the Barry M website in The States. it is called Navy, and it is basically just that. a deep navy blue, with some thice shimmery reflective particles in it which make it really shiny. in some lights it looks black, but i photographed it using a macro light to mimic the effect of sunlight.

so here it is, and here is the bottom of the bottle with the shade number for reference :)

what do you think of this polish? have you tried any of the Barry M polishes yourself? do you like them?

    Casual Fat Plait

ok, so this is a follow on from my beach waves tuorial, which this uses as a base style.

strt with your beachy waves. use my technique or any other, as long as your hair has some texture!
roughly gather your hair on one side and split it into two sections. keep some small wispy bits at the front to frame your face.

start the fishtail plait. take a small setion from the outside of one of the large bunches, and add it to the inside of the other one. repeat each side untill you run out of hair.
i'm really bad at explaining how to do this, but just have a go, and if your really cant make sense of my instructions then there are lots of tutorials for fishtails on youtube!

tug at the finished braid to make it really fat and messy. you can use a tail comb to pull out random strands if you want, or just use your fingers.
use some grips or clips to secure any loose strands at the back
    And you're done!
